Sleeping in the City That Never Sleeps
Let's face it, sleeping in the "City That Never Sleeps," can be pretty expensive and I guess we have to take a rest at some point during our Broadway experiences, right? Or at least have a place to change your clothes! Here are some great ways to find good deals on hotels in New York City without needing to take out any more student loans!
Manhattan geography made easy!
For reference as to where these hotels are located in comparison to many tourist locations, Time Square is located around 46th or 47th street in Manhattan. Click here to view a map of Time Square.

Time Square
My favourite hotel with a prime location in Time Square (right next to a Starbucks and TKTS) is the Edison Hotel. While the decor may be slightly outdated, you have every amenity you could ever need, and the price is considerably cheap, regardless whether or not you are a student! The price does vary season to season. In the fall before peak Christmas season, the price per night is around $130-$150. Going into December, the prices drastically rise to $270-$300 per night. You can also get a discount if you go with a larger group. This is why you should consider other options depending on when you would like to stay. But if you are looking for the best location at the best price, the Edison is the hotel for you!
Midtown
The Nyma Hotel is excellent for it offers the best of both worlds - being close to Time Square as well as a short walking distance from the Empire State Building, Macy's, Penn Station, Madison Square Garden, Fifth Avenue (shopping central!), The Fashion District and the Javitz Convention Center. Who could ask for more?
The Nyma Hotel is located on 32nd Street, meaning no cabs required at all - your legs will do the trick! The price range for the Nyma is $139 - $329 per night, again depending on the time of year.

Chelsea
The Chelsea Savoy Hotel is another great option for savvy tourists. While it may not be as "swanky" as some of the sky scraper hotels near Time Square, The Chelsea Savoy is located on 23rd street, meaning you can walk or take a short cab to many of Broadway theatres and tourist attractions. Single rooms begin at $99 and double rooms (which can accommodate up to four people) begin at $155. Splitting that with four friends only comes to $38.75 per person! That's a great deal considering you have all accommodations you could ask for!
Tribeca
The Cosmopolitan Hotel (sounds very "New York," don't-cha-think?) is located in Tribeca, located on 95th street. Tribeca is located in lower Manhattan and is an acronym for Triangle Below Canal Street (Learn something new everyday, right?). Tribeca is known for its beautiful architecture and industrial buildings that have turned into living spaces. The Cosmopolitan Hotel is not far from the theatre district, and it walking distance to Wall Street, The South Street Seaport and SoHo among other destinations. While the prices are comparable to the Edison Hotel, they offer a great deal for groups of four travelling together for $199 per night. If you'd like to experience this part of Manhattan as part of your Broadway experience, this is the place for you! Maybe you could even go during the Tribeca Film Festival!
